"Why Poetry"

This was my favorite reading from the week. It tackles a subject that I know all too well: childhood ostracization. The author beautifully expresses that feeling that many of us have as young people, "being a bear cub moving in with a family of turtles." I love the author's self reflection that this experience is what led the author to the loving arms of poetry.

  1. I agree . I got a lot from this poem. The author writes "I now think, were afraid, they were missing something that should have scared them :themselves. I was always afraid of myself". I can relate to this, there were times in my life where i felt the same and i expressed myself because of what was going on and i was afraid how to react whether it was wrong. Them best way i found to express myself was through poetry and writing and in writing you're never wrong. You can speak your mind and express however way you feel and that's what i enjoy most about poetry.
