A bicentennial is to be a celebration, joyous moment. It is a celebration but I didn't feel the joy. It felt as if he was emotionless. In the poem I felt as though he was emotionless. In the third stanza he said where his emotion was it was blank and i . the fourth stanza he talked about doing ecstasy at a parties. When someone is under the influence of drug everything around them seems to be moving slow motion to them. Whatever emotion they feel move slow with there body or completely leaves there leaving them stuck standing lifeless.

He was stuck waiting in a room while everyone was able to go out and enjoy the celebration. They brought back different types of souvenirs. They didn't bring any back specifically for him. After a while of having the souvenir they allowed him to play with after a while. The nuns did this because they thought it was an act of kindness.
