These two essays are very interesting reflections by the authors. Pointing out the decisions that they have made in life. Contemplating and explaining how they get to where they are in life. They never really fully explain why they are at this point of reflection. But they give descriptive details of their life events that caused me to speculate how they got to this point.
In Kristen Dombek's Letter from Williamsburg, it is possible that there was some traumatic event that brought her to her present state. It's not exactly explained.
J.D. Daniels in his Letter from Kentucky is traveling back home. His journey through the old familiar streets are recalling a range of memories.
Reading these passages actually made me think. What it be like for me to write such a letter and include events and experiences that I encountered through my life. Their descriptions didn't just draw me in and want to know more about their lives; it also raised my interest in performing my self-reflection. Maybe visiting places that may or may not recall feelings and experiences of my own.
