Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 220 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.
In the beginning she is painting a picture for us. I was able to gather that she lived in a ranch with Victorian detailing. She talked about the first owner of the ranch and the babies. She describes her mother and the phase she was going through.
You can tell that she has a crush on Jack. She tires to hid it when she "hunched her shoulders, trying to relieve the strain of my breast against the borrowed fabric."
I agree it does appear that Emma has a crush on Jack. This is even more disturbing because it seems as though Marion has a crush on him as well. However, Jack might be more interested in Marion than he is Emma.
