Smalltown Lift
This poem was very interesting. It seems to be about a couple. The author writes he/ she doesn't like bowling anymore and doesn't want to bowl anymore because it seems to be raining so instead they goto the photo booth to take pictures and one of them asks to tell each other one true thing. The character mentions "This is the best way I could think to have my arm around you". Then you hear click click click as if the pictures are being taken. It seems to be about a couple getting together for a first date from what I read. It's very interesting how the author explained the photo booth and a bowling ally. I really liked the poem and thought it was good.

This poem is so simple yet had such a true meaning to it. It seems to be about a couple on a date, however the girl is expressing that she wants to try something different from bowling, being that is what she grew up playing. I feel like the guy is putting forth his best effort, and being a romantic. "He picks out the best photo booth" as a way of saying she deserves only the best? "This is the best way I could get my arms around you", from my interpretation he was nervous throughout the date to touch her, so he finds the perfect way he could hug her without seeming like he is pushy; unlike most guys these days they just initiate and take control without considering if the girl is uncomfortable. I believe the "click click click" is a symbol of capturing there best moment together.
ReplyDeleteI also got the same idea from the poem being about a couple on a date. The author's use of third person and a prose style poem was different but made the poem more intriguing.
ReplyDelete"This is the best way to have my arm around you. Click.Click.Click.", was my favorite part because somethings never last forever but a picture does.
